TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION  (13 V.S.A. § 2) (simple version)

One of the essential elements which the State must have proven is that the alleged offense occurred within the State of Vermont.  If the alleged act or acts occurred in another state, then there is no jurisdiction and you must find (Def)_______________ not guilty.  However, if (Def)_______________ did an act within this state in execution of the crime, [regardless of the state in which the rest of the alleged criminal acts took place,] and if the other essential elements have been proven, then you must find [him] [her] guilty.
